Criminal Investigator (Program Manager)

The incumbent functions as policy developer and manager for a critical Bureau law enforcement program, function, or operation. He or she serves as an expert authority on broad law enforcement issues falling within ATF's jurisdiction. Projects involve studies of processes, problems, and initiatives that concern major law enforcement programs of the Bureau and associated activities in other Federal, state, local, and international law enforcement agencies and organizations. Provides professional leadership and guidance in extending, improving, and monitoring existing programs and devising, developing, and implementing innovative changes and long-term improvements. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience which is in, or directly related to, the line of work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To meet the specialized experience requirements, you must demonstrate that you possess appropriate experience in, or have shown the potential to develop, the qualities of successful leadership such as:
Judgment and Problem Solving; Plan, Organize and Prioritize; Lead Others; Relate to Others; General Investigative Knowledge; Knowledge of Relevant Laws, Regulations, and Policies; measured during ATF's EPAS.Any employee who currently occupies or has previously occupied a permanent GS-1811-14 position with prior or current specialized experience may apply to be considered for noncompetitive reassignment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
